This experiential field trip to local enterprises provided an invaluable learning opportunity for Business Administration students at Keiser University – Hue Campus (KUV Hue). As part of their coursework in International Business and Operations Management, this trip went beyond classroom learning. It allowed students to engage directly with business operations, observe production and management processes, and gain insightful lessons from real-world business models.

Song Nguyen Interior Design – Quality Management and Supply Chain in Construction Projects
Song Nguyen Interior is a well-known company in Hue, specializing in full-package design and construction of interiors and exteriors for townhouses, villas, homestays, and hotels. With a modern construction style, premium materials such as Korean artificial stone and European-standard engineered wood, and smart accessories, Song Nguyen represents a prime example of comprehensive quality management and effective supply chain integration.
During the field trip, students:
- Toured the production facility and on-site construction area, witnessing processes such as 3D design, CNC wood cutting, assembly, and final product finishing.
- Interacted with engineers, site supervisors, and operations staff to learn about material management and quality control processes across different project stages.
- Attended a session with company leaders who shared insights into supply chain strategies, cost optimization, project timelines, and brand reputation management.
Through this visit, students not only gained a clearer understanding of the interior design and construction industry but also experienced a practical example of lean and structured operations in the service sector.

Hoang Gia Bo Chinh Ginseng Company is a pioneer in reviving and commercializing the rare Bo Chinh ginseng, historically known as the “imperial ginseng” of the Truong Son region. With an organic farming approach combined with modern technology, the company has developed a diverse range of products including fresh ginseng, ginseng honey, ginseng tea, ginseng wine, and ginseng jam – highly rated in the domestic market and geared towards export.
During the field trip, students:
- Visited the processing and packaging areas, observing how raw materials are handled, preserved, and bottled.
- Explored the agricultural value chain – from plant research and cultivation to branding and distribution.
- Spoke directly with company representatives to learn about their entrepreneurial journey – from early setbacks to achieving the prestigious 3-star OCOP certification and expanding into premium markets.
- Participated in group discussions on the challenge: How can a local product enter the global value chain?
This experience deepened students’ understanding of agricultural production and management while encouraging them to connect local value with global business thinking – a crucial skill in today’s interconnected world.
Lavin Home Paper Flower Village – Social Entrepreneurship and Cultural Values
Beyond traditional manufacturing, Lavin Home is a powerful example of social entrepreneurship built around community values. This unique art space in Hue preserves traditional paper flower-making techniques while providing sustainable livelihoods for people with disabilities – especially the hearing-impaired and those with mild intellectual disabilities.
During the visit, students:
- Learned about the traditional paper flower-making process, including material selection, dye mixing, and handcrafted petal shaping.
- Engaged directly with disabled artisans, gaining insight into how they overcome barriers to affirm their self-worth through craftsmanship.
- Practiced basic sign language for daily communication, fostering a deeper sense of empathy and connection – a core value championed by Lavin Home.
This visit helped students understand the social enterprise model and delivered a powerful message: business can go beyond profit-making to create opportunities, promote inclusion, and drive positive change in the community.

With a modern production facility in Hương Thủy and a nationwide distribution network, Tân Nguyên exemplifies how a traditional product can successfully transition through digital transformation.
On this field trip, students:
- Observed the clean incense production process – from raw herbal material handling to packaging and labeling.
- Examined the quality control system, from ingredient selection to moisture testing and final warehousing.
- Attended a session with company leaders to learn about their flexible operations strategy, including diversification into media and security fields, and digital transformation in order management and customer service.
- Engaged in a group discussion on: How can traditional values be preserved while innovating the business model for modern demands?
Through the Tan Nguyen experience, students explored operations and supply chain management in small and medium enterprises, and how traditional products can be redefined in the digital age.
